Pro Football Hall of Fame...a change is in order

As we football junkies zephyr down from the ethereal of great altitude of draft weekend thoughts turn round to other, well, football things, or all things football, whatever.  By and by spring camps/drills will take rise and new found franchise savers/rookies will run the gauntlet of evaluation and long exercised hazing.  Then teaching camp will wince sometime in July, usually in sweltering stipulations, and under the gaze of unmerciful task masters.

Then sometime in the descend the preliminary register of 125 candidates for enshrinement into the Pro Football Large room of Fame will be mailed out.  The 44 writers given the unlimited privilege and accountability for selecting the honorees will then whittle the invoice down to a handful of deserving enshrinees. 

Therein lay the rub…football’s sepulcher of size, a place considered one of the pure cathedrals of the pleasantry, where inductees are en-“shrined”, is presided over by roughly 40 journalists, most of whom never set paw on a football field for any intellectual powers other than paid observance.  Things must vary.  The advance must change.  The selectors must modify.  The Chamber must change.
