Joie Ray
Although I’m not a Foul matter Track/Midget religious madman… There was a very engaging interview on Autosport Radio yesterday, as I’d never heard of racing pioneer Joie Ray, nor the volume’s author Pat Sullivan…
What made this so attractive to me was that it’s all about an African American who broke the colour obstruction in Motor Racing the same year as Jackie Robinson did in Baseball… Yet, that was NEVER Joie Ray’s bear upon; he just wanted to house cars!
The contriver Pat Sullivan has done an striking amount of research on the make subordinate and also presents the volume in great form, by telling tales of how Joie made his way into racing with the succor of many of the elite Filth Track Drivers of the day…
The volume sounds of a piece quite a fascinating peruse and you can learn more about it at: American Spectacle Press: Brick by Brick
Pat Sullivan At a enumerate of tracks where the IndyCar Succession runs around the political division and at many short tracks in the Mid-Occident, you are likely to perceive by the ear Pat on the PA. When it comes to the record of the short tracks, the drivers and, yes, the recital of the cars, Pat is a walking encyclopedia of advice. How fitting it is the Pat would set about the task of putting the record of a true auto racing pioneer... Joie Ray in work form. "Brick by Brick", released April 13th (the first yearly of Joie's dying), is the story from his first days on World through his racing course and the influences that made him the man he was. With the pose in America at the duration, Joie never carried a hew on his shoulder, only a smile and a advantageous word to all.”
